About

Unforeseen Expressions is a little bit of everything that makes life in Topeka exciting, interesting, frustrating yet inspiring; through my eyes.

My current obsession: figuring out this thing we call motherhood to our adorable baby boy Oliver. Other life loves include: sewing & crafting, cooking & baking, vintage to bargain shopping, event planning/florist.

Our little Oliver turned ONE yesterday. Our little baby boy is now a talking, exploring, get into everything toddler; eating cake and all.

We had a wonderful, small celebration this past Sunday with amazing family & friends.  This monster party was filled with Oliver’s favorites: sweet potato fries, hummus, fruit, black bean salsa, Gretchen’s famous guacamole, and a variety of other kid treats. And a birthday party wouldn’t be complete without cake. I made vanilla cupcakes topped with cream cheese frosting. The monster toppings were created using marshmallows, jelly bellies & fruit leather.

Since Oliver is the only baby in the family, he’s used to getting all of the attention.  As with any 1-year old birthday party, all eyes were on him while he demolished his first dose of sugar.  Let’s just say he wasn’t shy about shoveling the entire cupcake in his mouth.

Thanks to all who helped us celebrate! We had a fabulous day!
