Does anyone else remember the drink Orange Julius? This was the drink of choice when I was a kid, shopping around White Lakes Mall. Ahh the memories. What tasty treats those were back in the day.
Well, as I was browsing Food & Flicks to find a restaurant choice for tonight, I noticed something. A Dairy Queen in N. Topeka serves this wonderful drink. Can you believe it? If I didn’t have all this packing to do at work, I would be on my way over there right now. I give in to most of my pregnancy cravings and now an icy cold Orange Julius is on the list.
Yes, the Friday night bar scene has really changed, well at least for me. No more 3am bedtimes for me. By midnight I’ve had my fill and I’m ready to crawl into my nice warm bed. That is, if I make it until midnight.
Last night we hit up the new Seabrook Tavern on 10th & Quincy. I know it moved locations this summer but I hadn’t had a chance to check it out yet. Something about morning sickness and totally exhaustion through most of the summer. That might have something to do with it. I wanted to check out a band, The Hold Up, that includes a couple high school friends. They have a full bluegrass sound that was fun & energetic. We really enjoyed ourselves and even think it would be awesome to have them play for our annual Memorial Day party. We try to have either a Memorial or Labor Day party every year. Why stop next year? I know our lives are changing and we will be crazy busy with little Oliver next year. But what better reason to slow down a bit, have 50 of our closest friends over to enjoy a laid-back bbq. Sounds perfect.
Nutella on toast with a steamy, rich latte. What could be better on a chilly November morning?
When we first started talking about nursery design, some sort of giraffe theme kept coming up. Reason being, we feel in love with so many modern giraffe wall graphics.

Hard part, deciding which one will be perfect in Ollie’s room.
So far, we’ve been trying to hold off on buying baby clothing. Yes, we do realize Oliver will need clothing to stay warm. My problem: If I start buying, I might go a little overboard. I have a great list of the basics he will need at the hospital and once he comes home. But I’ve always had a problem distinguishing the want from the need, especially when it comes to clothing.
But if I did start a wish list, here’s what would be at the top:
Snowsuits, Sweaters One-Pieces, Bodysuits & anything with cute little bear ears on top

I must admit, I love the boy clothes from GAP and BODEN. Tons of bold stripes, plaids and fun graphic tees with cars, robots and dinosaurs. Who says girls are more fun to dress than boys. Our little man is going to be stylin’-just you wait!
We’ve decided to try out cloth diapers on Oliver.
Some parents may think attempting cloth is time consuming, frustrating and not practical. But hearing from so many moms out there who love cloth diapers, my possibly naive self really thinks the positive will out-weigh the negative. Maybe it depends on your motivation and lifestyle. I really think that if we make it a normal routine, it will be just as easy as disposable, more cost effective in the long run, better for the environment and better for Oliver’s little bum. Also, you can’t ignore the cuteness factor!
