Hard part, deciding which one will be perfect in Ollie’s room.

I think I’m in love.
So far, we’ve been trying to hold off on buying baby clothing. Yes, we do realize Oliver will need clothing to stay warm. My problem: If I start buying, I might go a little overboard. I have a great list of the basics he will need at the hospital and once he comes home. But I’ve always had a problem distinguishing the want from the need, especially when it comes to clothing.
But if I did start a wish list, here’s what would be at the top:
Snowsuits, Sweaters One-Pieces, Bodysuits & anything with cute little bear ears on top
I must admit, I love the boy clothes from GAP and BODEN. Tons of bold stripes, plaids and fun graphic tees with cars, robots and dinosaurs. Who says girls are more fun to dress than boys. Our little man is going to be stylin’-just you wait!
Stella McCartney is debuting a line for babyGap & GapKids. Oh, Discover Card is going to love me. Watch out!

Have I mentioned my love for snowsuits and cozy, sweater one-pieces? Another post, another time.
We’ve decided to try out cloth diapers on Oliver.
Some parents may think attempting cloth is time consuming, frustrating and not practical. But hearing from so many moms out there who love cloth diapers, my possibly naive self really thinks the positive will out-weigh the negative. Maybe it depends on your motivation and lifestyle. I really think that if we make it a normal routine, it will be just as easy as disposable, more cost effective in the long run, better for the environment and better for Oliver’s little bum. Also, you can’t ignore the cuteness factor!

Here are some great links that are really helping us figure out the best way to go about this endeavor:
I will let you know how it goes in February! If anyone has an helpful hints or advice, I would appreciate hearing about it!

Z&E Halloween 2009
Speed Bump & Balloon Boy, at your service
Happy Halloween!!
Last night we attended an annual Halloween party at a friends house. Everyone definitely pulled out all the stops to create unique costumes. We had the Bearded Lady (he/she has much better legs than I do), H1N1 couple, Ricki & Lucy, Hawaiian couple eaten by sharks, and Frida & Diego.
I need to get a hold of a picture of Zach & I together. His Balloon Boy costume was much more elaborate towards the beginning of the night. Just think silver Mylar balloons and a metallic table cloth. I’m sure the balloons got annoying, so he was left with his t-shirt saying “We did it for the show, right daddy?”. Awesome.
What a gorgeous day it is outside. Sunny, mid 60s, perfect day for Halloween. I was enjoying, yes I said enjoying, raking leaves in my front yard when a car caught me off guard. Driving down Huntoon, there was a white hooded figure in the passenger seat of a red convertible. I realize it’s Halloween, but how ignorant do you have to be to think that’s okay?? Pretty ignorant.
Good news, the procrastination has ended at least for one night! I finally started cutting out Oli’s crib skirt panels last night. To find the time and motivation to start a sewing project is always hard for me. But once I’m in the groove I love it. It’s so relaxing to play and create with fabric. I just charge up the old iPod with a good Harry Potter book and I’m ready to go. (Yes, I won’t disguise it-I love listening to HP books. Perfect background for a sewing project when you could easily recite the entire book from memory)
Don’t you love the fabrics I’ve chosen?? I’m quite proud of myself. Hopefully I’ll be able to say the same thing when the project is done. I love the mix of colors and prints. Oliver’s nursery is definitely not going to be boring!
There comes a time when you have to make some decisions. There are the important ones:
-figure out a birth plan, find a pediatrician
-maternity leave, stay at home, work from home, day care?
The list goes on and on.
Then there are the necessary, but slightly more fun decisions.
How do we set up the nursery; what crib, dresser, colors, and bedding? What type of gear do we need or will fit into our lifestyle?
Well, we found a crib! We also might have made a decision on the dresser and rocking chair. My parents offered us a cute white dresser and rocking chair to use. We plan on painting the dresser fun, bright colors to coordinate with Oliver’s bedding. The rocking chair will need a few cushions, so hopefully I will have some fabric leftover from his bedding to add a little comfort.
